Ineco participates in the CAF Conference: Cities with Future

Ineco has participated in the CAF Conference: Cities with Future, which was held in Lima (Peru), between 2 and 3 of November. An appointment that, challenged the current paradigms around interventions in cities, identifying the most effective actions that are being successfully executed in the region to comply with the New Urban Agenda, set a year ago in Ecuador during Habitat III and which can replicate them in other cities.

The president of Ineco, Isaac Martín Barbero, has been one of the panellists of the round table dedicated to the management of cities, in which he stressed that "good urban planning has to be conceived as a fundamental engine of development". In addition, in his speech he also pointed out that: "Innovation needs strategy, vision and institutionality adjusted to the needs of citizens". 

The vice president of Argentina, Gabriela Michetti; the vice president and president of the Council of Ministers of Peru, Mercedes Aráoz; the CEO of CAF, Luis Carranza; the executive director of UN-Habitat, Joan Clos; the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning of Chile, Paulina Saball; the Minister of the Executive Secretary of Housing and Habitat of Paraguay Soledad Núñez; the Minister of Transport of Argentina, Guillermo Dietrich; the Mayor of La Paz, Luis Revilla; and the metropolitan Mayor of Lima, Luis Castañeda; were some of the leaders who participated in this event.

During the meeting, key issues of urban development were addressed, such as the improvement of living conditions in slums, the integral management of disaster risks, the promotion of economic-productive development, the best mechanisms for financing urban policies, or successful experiences in the development of infrastructure for the construction of smart cities.
