The consortium formed by Ineco, Renfe and the German company DB Engineering & Consulting, has been awarded the contract to provide services as "shadow operator" of the high-speed Rail Baltica project.
Rail Baltica is one of the largest high-speed infrastructure projects under development in Europe and the largest in the Baltic countries, co-financed by the European Union. The line, which will link the main cities of the three countries with the aim of starting first operations in 2027 with a high-speed train, will be 870 kilometres long and offer mixed traffic services (passenger and freight).

As a "shadow operator", the consortium participated by Ineco will support Rail Baltica during the construction phase and will be in charge of defining the operation and maintenance requirements. An essential service that the three partners are already developing for the Tren Maya, a flagship project of the Government of the Republic of Mexico, which will connect the entire Yucatan peninsula.

With this contract, the tenth signed in this project, the MITMA Group's engineering and consulting firm strengthens its position in Europe, a market that represents more than 42% of the company's international activity where, among other projects, it is leading the deployment of ERTMS and the digitisation of European rail corridors, as well as the contract to improve the performance of the European global satellite navigation system Galileo. The company has also recently signed a contract to advise the Polish government on the development of its high-speed rail network.
