Ineco is part of the Renfe RS3 (Smart Security Station) project for the digitalisation of the security systems of nearly 500 commuter stations throughout Spain. In fact, Ineco is the company in charge of the technical assistance service for the management and coordination of the project for the installation of the new video cameras, financed with European Union funds.

By 2024, the project plans to replace more than 5,000 analog security cameras with IP cameras, which will anonymously and automatically collect and process thousands of data through each station's CCTV system and integrate them into a single dashboard. The goal is to improve security and customer experience in strict compliance with data protection policy. Also envisaged is the installing of 500 Next Generation servers, renew the operating systems, installations and digital elements of the commuter stations and the installing of 500 cybersecurity probes for monitoring, control and analysis, which will increase the levels of digital security and cybersecurity in the stations.

Thanks to this intelligent security system, it will be possible to know what is happening in Renfe Cercanías stations in real time, which will allow the company to make better security decisions. For example, by analyzing the flow, if necessary, more staff could be deployed to the stations, if necessary, at any time. It will also be possible to detect, in an automated way, security-related incidents such as people and objects falling onto the tracks, fires, vandalism or fraud in accessing services.

During 2021, the planning and execution of installations have already begun in a total of 21 stations in Madrid, 22 stations in Rodalies, Barcelona, 7 stations in Bilbao, 7 stations in Valencia and 4 stations in Seville. And in 2022, this improvement is expected to be implemented in 33 stations in Madrid, 43 in Rodalíes Barcelona, 15 in the Bilbao commuter core and six in RAM (metric gauge), 14 in San Sebastián, 10 in Asturias and nine in RAM, 12 stations in RAM Santander, 17 in Valencia, nine in Seville, 11 in Málaga, 8 in Murcia/Alicante and 7 stations in Cádiz.
