Ineco Chairman Pablo Vázquez accompanied Spanish Minister for Public Works Ana Pastor on her visit to Kazakhstan on 24 June to promote Spanish participation in transport infrastructure projects and offer the experience and know-how of Spanish companies.
 
In addition to other authorities, they met with Kazakh Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov (pictured), as well as Transport and Communication Minister Askar Zhumagaliev, the chairman of the State Entity “Astana Expo 2017”, Talgat Yermegiyaev, and Kazakh national railway company KTZ Chairman Askar Mamin.
 
The Kazakh Ministry of Transport and Communication, together with the World Bank, have produced the State Transport Infrastructure Programme up to the year 2020. It is designed to increase the competitiveness of the country's transport system, develop a better use of its transit potential, create employment and better security, and enhance transport service quality. Furthermore, the Kazakh capital of Astana was selected to host the 2017 Expo, which is setting the framework for the short-term lines of action in the area of infrastructure investments.
 
The projects to be undertaken include several of interest to Ineco, such as the construction of new rail lines, including the high-speed line between Astana-Almaty, the light-rail trains and the modernisation of the airports in both cities, and the development of the road network and bus lines.
