Railways

Sergio Vázquez Torrón, president of Ineco, has visited the improvement works on the Ourense-Monforte de Lemos - Lugo railway corridor where the engineering and consultancy of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda has been providing technical assistance to Adif since 2020 to improve the conditions of the infrastructure and increase the reliability of the lines and the quality of the service.

With the delegate of the Government, José Miñones, and Luis M. Palacios, manager of the Maintenance Area of Ourense and P.D. Northwest of Adif, Sergio Vázquez has been interested in the modernization works of the Network between Ourense and Lugo, visiting the works in the Viaduct of A Chanca. With more than 150 years behind, this infrastructure, which maintains its original pillars, will be key to connecting Madrid with the oldest city in Galicia. In addition, they also wanted to see first-hand the works at the northern end of the Oural Tunnel, 1,800 meters long, which will replace the current tunnel of the same name. Its construction is the most technically complex of the 71 projects that Adif has in process within the State plan to modernize the railway line between Ourense, Monforte and Lugo.

Ineco provides support to Adif throughout the corridor with management, control and supervision services for works that include the renovation of infrastructure and track, improvement of structure (bridges, tunnels, levellings, etc.), signaling and telecommunications installations, overhead contact line, as well as removal of level crossings.

In the meeting he held with the Ineco team in Galicia, Sergio Vázquez Torrón emphasized that: “Ineco is a long-term future company, it´s a sustainable mobility and digital transformation benchmark and its entrenchment in Galicia will go further”. The company has more than 135 professionals, distributed in the four provinces of the region, collaborating in the transformation of Galician infrastructure. A team that has increased its professionals by more than 50% over the last three years, consolidating its presence in Galicia, with special relevance in the province of Lugo, where the largest number of technicians is grouped, exceeding 50.

Engineering has been involved in the arrival of the high-speed railway in all its phases, from the design of various technical projects, construction management and technical assistance to the control of the execution and support in the commissioning phase. It also plays an important role in the modernization of the conventional network. In the area of roads, it is worth mentioning the drafting of projects to achieve more sustainable mobility through the humanization of crossings at the entrances to A Coruña and Vigo, as well as the development, conservation and operation of the network of the Demarcation of State Roads in Galicia.
