Ineco has been awarded the contract for the comprehensive management of the project and the commissioning and operational transition of the expansion of Kuwait International Airport (KIA) for Kuwait's Ministry of Public Works. Among other actions, the expansion includes the construction of a new 700,000 m2 terminal building, with the goal of obtaining LEED Gold certification; the extension of the two existing runways; the construction of a new third runway; a new control tower; and the development of the airport's associated landside and airside infrastructure.

Our company, the leader of the consortium, together with its local partners, the Kuwaiti firms KUD (Kuwait United Development) and the engineering and architecture firm Dar al Jazera Consultants, will coordinate the work of the many consultants and contractors from various countries involved in the works, which will increase the airport's capacity to 25 million passengers.

The company will also provide ORAT services, which include the planning, validation and execution of the testing of all the systems and procedures for the terminal before commissioning, as well as familiarizing the personnel with them to ensure that the commissioning of the new facilities is carried out smoothly. Ineco has extensive experience in ORAT at major airports in Spain (Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Valencia, Alicante) and the rest of the world, such as Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) and Newark (USA).

Ineco worked previously at this airport between 2011 and 2016, performing Project Management tasks and updating the 2010 Master Plan for Kuwait's Directorate-General for Civil Aviation.
