Ineco has been entrusted with the project management and health and safety coordination of the refurbishment and fitting out of the new headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation.

Located in the centre of Madrid, this is an energy-efficient building with more than 50,000 m2 of floor space, in which more than 1,200 public employees will work. It represents a significant economic saving for the Ministry, as it makes it possible to dispense with several leases that were necessary until now, improving the management of the ministerial units that were previously dispersed.

The refurbished building has great flexibility in the use of space, functionality and sustainability, complying with the European Union's directives on energy efficiency, with BREEAM sustainability certification, with a Very Good rating. All the information on the work has been integrated into a BIM (Building Information Modelling) model, which has improved the quality of the project and optimised costs during construction, also enabling greater and more efficient maintenance capacity in the future.

The new headquarters has, among other spaces, an assembly hall, an events room, four meeting rooms, a data processing centre and a communications room or crisis room, with a customer service area for consular and immigration matters, as well as a nursery with a capacity for 50 children.
